On a warm August night, people gathered at the park to enjoy the music of Slim Wizzy and their dynamic lead singer, the bombshell, who delivered Country, Rock, and Rhythm and Blues classics with powerful guitar riffs, booming drums, and soaring vocals. Vendors and community groups set up booths to showcase their goods and services, while the Bonney Lake Kiwanis Club dished out root beer floats, sodas, and ice cream, with all proceeds going to support local community projects.
♻️ Kiwanis in Action! ♻️
Kiwanis members volunteered to hand out free backpacks filled with school supplies during the second of three Sumner Bonney Lake School District Back to School distribution days. Providing backpacks and starter supplies helps ease the financial burden on families during this busy season. Each family also received a “swag bag” packed with community resource information and fun items. Local service providers were on-site as well, sharing helpful materials. Our hope is that everyone feels supported, not just with material goods, but through the care and kindness shown. This is about encouraging students and letting them know their community and school truly care about their education—let’s cheer them on!

On a cloudy yet mild summer night, folks gathered at Allen Yorke Park for Hell on Heels Band’s empowering tribute to the Queens of Country Music, part of the City of Bonney Lake’s concert series. The crowd got lost in the music celebrating Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, and more, while vendors and community groups set up booths to share their goods and services. The Bonney Lake Kiwanis Club served up root beer floats, sodas, and ice cream, with all proceeds supporting local community projects.
National Night Out
Families braved the heat and smoky air to enjoy the National Night Out; an event aimed at raising crime and drug prevention awareness while fostering neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Community groups offered plenty of fun activities for kids. Bonney Lake Police, East Pierce Fire and Rescue, and the City of Bonney Lake gave children a hands-on experience; public works showcased their heavy equipment, the fire department brought a fire engine, and the police displayed their vehicles. The Bonney Lake Police Department served up free hotdog meals, while Kiwanis handed out mini plush animals and candy.
Battle of the Bands
The Maple Lawn Modern Band, Fennel Creek Falcons, and Hollow Brigade took the stage on a clear, beautiful summer night for the Summer Sound Showdown, part of the City of Bonney Lake’s concert series at Allen Yorke Park. Music lovers gathered to enjoy the performances and vote for their favorite band. The lively crowd soaked up the friendly competition, while local market booths showcased their goods. The Bonney Lake Kiwanis Root Beer Garden served up frosty root beer floats to raise money for community projects.
♻️ Kiwanis and Key Club in Action! ♻️
Kiwanis and Key Club members teamed up to clean our Adopt-A-Street section near the high school. It was a great morning of service, teamwork, and community pride. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help keep our city looking its best!
Bonney Lake Key Club Year End Celebration
Bonney Lake High School KEY Club wrapped up the year with their annual celebration at Allan Yorke Park. Members of the Bonney Lake Kiwanis joined in to honor the club’s achievements over the past year. Everyone enjoyed great food and fellowship, as new officers were inducted and pinned by the regional Key Club Lt. Governor. The members also shared a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Berwick, their incredible adviser.
Orting Key Club Year End Celebration
The Orting High School Key Club wrapped up their year with a picnic at Central Park in Orting. It was a beautiful day, and the whole club hiked to the park from the high school. Bonney Lake Kiwanians joined the fun, and their President, Ernie Glimer, praised the Key Club for their projects and their successful first year. Members enjoyed pizza and inducted next year’s officers, presenting them with Kiwanis Key Club pins. Ms. Frafjord was also honored for her outstanding work as Club Advisor and awarded the Advisor’s pin.
